DUTY TEAMS
A huge huge thankyou to the duty teams over the last few weeks for their awesome efforts in setting up and packing up the fields and helping in the canteen. It’s only a small amount of time to give up and support our great club! Special Mention to the ladies team and the Under 14 boys who did a great job over the last couple of home games. This helps the day run smoothly and it’s also a bit of fun at the same time. Well Done Spurs, keep it up and Thank you to all who have helped.

Awards: Harry M, Harry C, Zac and Toby
What a fantastic game from the Super Under 12 girls team, they have come along way with their skills and are doing a great job and improving each and every week. The girls demonstrated great sportsmanship and team spirit. A good game was had by all and we look forward to having a full side and showing what we can do over the coming weeks. Special mention to Charlotte, Makayla and Brooke who played their first game for Hotspurs and to Ciara, Sarsha and Laura who had strong games and dominated the play! Ava and Hallex2 both scored, Keep up the hard work at training girls!! I’m very proud to coach such an enthusiastic bunch of girls who enjoy the game. Well Done
Under 13’s V Albury City Lost 4 – 5
I think the boys were still on an Easter Egg Hunt in the first half as their minds seemed to be elsewhere. A much better second half by our boys. CJ passed the ball to Kye who scored, Manny passed to CJ who scored and Harry passed to Felix who passed to CJ who scored with a great header and the last goal was scored by Felix who chipped the keeper. Marcus was solid in defence and Felix controlled the midfield well.
Goals: Kye 1, CJ 2 and Felix 1
Best on ground: Marcus, Felix and Wendell
Under 14’s V Albury City Won 5 – 4
Well the game got off to a flyer, it was intense from the get go. Zac had a crack from well outside the box to put it in the net. Then City came back with an equaliser, but Mitchell had other plans scoring another to put us up 2-1 at half time. John stirred the boys into action with a speech about mateship and doing it for each other. City came out strong to put one away early. Our defence strengthened up in the second half. Then came a goal from Ollie, then Cody joined in on the action scoring one. Zac got a penalty shot from the spot and made sure of it. But City weren’t finished scoring two more with only minutes to spare. It was a tight finish but the boys and a girl did a great job.
Under 14’s Girls V Albury City Lost 0 – 10
Under 16’s V Albury City Won 3 – 2 Under 17’s Girls V Albury City Lost 0 – 3
Third’s V Albury City Lost 0 – 4
The Spurs did not play very well on Sunday. Our passing was very poor and we did not work as hard as we usually do. Sajit, Indra, Lewis were our best players. We need to improve for next Sunday.
Over 35’s V Albury City Lost 1 – 5
Not a game we wish to remember. Jim put us in front with a cracking goal from outside the penalty area to put us ahead in the first 10 minutes. From there we had glimpses of good play until we conceded a soft goal towards the end of the half. In the second half our formation just was not there & they scored a goal within a minute of kick off. Some other questionable goals (which we disputed with the referee for offside) in the first five to ten minutes left us a little dumfounded. A slight reshuffle & we found our feet again. We did play better in attack & defence in the last part of the game but it was all too late.
Reserve Women V Albury City Lost 0 – 3
Great game played by the reserve ladies. Well done to Megan on debuting as keeper. Jess Alvey, Danielle, Kaels, Beth Whitehead and Kelly played a very strong game. Well done girls, I could see the skills you’ve been working on at training starting to come through, keep up the good work.
Reserves V Albury City Lost 0 – 2
The Reserves did not have much luck and just could not get the ball into the goal the team managed to hit the opponents crossbar four times during the game. Ram, Dhan and Santi had good games while Jon Cochrane and Zac Brodie were strong in defence. Better luck next time.
Ladies V Albury City Lost 2 – 4
Congratulations girls on scoring goals against a team we haven’t in a few years. As someone who got to observe on the bench I can honestly say I can see the improvement and was enjoying watching so much I didn’t want to go back on. Thanks to Julz for a cracker effort in goals. Kendal, Nat Pursehouse, Bec Briggs and Jordan played a strong game. Congrats to Jess Briggs on scoring in the penalty and KT on a superb shot.
Seniors V Albury City Lost 1 – 3
The senior men were very disappointed with this result. We again found ourselves two goals down early and chasing the game. We created many chances in the second half but poor finishing and good goalkeeping prevented Spurs from closing the gap. Matt Townsend and James Eggleston were the best for Hotspurs.

For today’s game we didn’t need to use Google maps to find Kelly Park as the games were switched to Aloysius and Lambert Parks. Another game where the defenders were solid and didn’t let the opposition get too close to our goals … Well done Harry, Marcus, Gerizim and Tim and Manny. Felix controlled the midfield well along with Wendell and Kye, CJ, Connor and Tyrese who all played well up front. Some nice passing to feet and some great one-touch passing as was indicated with the passage of play … Tyrese to Wendell to Kye to Felix back to Kye and then to Felix who scored/ A bit more talking would be good. CJ was unlucky on a couple of occasions with near misses over the cross-bar and around the upright. Scott made a couple of spectacular saves.

Under 14’s Girls V Twin City BYE
Under 16’s V Twin City Won 8 – 1
Both teams played well but hotspurs came out on top 8-1. Sam Thorman scored 4, Xander 2, Mitch 1 and Subash 1. Nice runs made by Mathew Clarke and Connor Jory, while Kyle, William and Caleb were giving great support in/out of defence. Lewis hit some ripper through balls to Nato and Townie. Sideline support provided from Azar gave inspiration to all the players. Lachlan played a great game adding support in defence and attacking up front. All round great effort from the U16s hotspurs!
Under 17’s Girls V Twin City BYE
Third’s V Twin City Draw 0 – 0
This was a really good team performance against a strong, physical team. Hotspurs worked very hard to keep their team structure and support each
other. In the end the Spurs nearly grabbed the winning goal in a very close match. Top effort by everyone but special mention to Caleb Parker and our goalkeeper Joel McDonough who both outstanding.
Over 35’s V Twin City BYE
Reserve Women V Twin City BYE
Reserves V Twin City Lost 0 – 9
A severely undermanned ressies with seven players unavailable were outclassed by a very strong team. The effort of all Spurs players is to be commended. Middi and Joncock were very good and Mickett played well in his return to the side. Special thanks to all the thirds who filled in to allow us to get a full side on the field.
Ladies V Twin City Draw 2 – 2
The Seniors played a team who showed why they are the favourites to win the League this year. Our opponents seemed to convert every chance they got in front of goal. Matt Townsends goal was as good as any in the game and it was great to see Tyson Mason get his first goal for Spurs. The boys played some good football in patches and two goals is the most Twin City has conceded this year. We look forward to getting a win after Easter.
