Week of firsts for juniors
In an exciting week of games for the junior spurs, two teams recorded firsts for the history books.Under 14’s v St.Pats won 2-1Our first win of the year! A great team effort Jarrod scored twice and our defence of Tom, Trevor, Brady and John was outstanding. Thanks to the under 13 boys who played on Saturday, you were terrific.Under 11’s v Wang won 1-0What a game! Excellent performances from all 14 players, as we broke through for our first ever win against the tough Wang side. Ben slipped through a nice ball for Matty P to score. Well played everyone, you did yourselves proud. Keep up the good work.In other reports:Under 11’s v St.Pats won 7-1After a slow start the team played some excellent team soccer. We capitalised on our chances with Luke scoring four goals - including a 40 yard cracker. Kristy, Seato and Daniel B scored the other goals.
Seniors v Myrtleford won 3-0 Sponsored by Sodens8:30pm Kick off in Myrtleford in the middle of winter. What a great idea? Freezing cold, wet and windy we battled away against the wind in the first half. Not much to cheer about although Peter Gunning had to make a few saves in goals which he made look simple as always and Andy Harbick’s "Forwards backwards land epileptic moon dance" was quite amusing. With the wind and only minus 20 degrees in the second half a ball dropped for Rhys on top of the box and he slotted it home first time with the left peg. Then Bones rose high on the front stick to flick on a curling corner from Darrel Mills to put us up 2. Myrtleford pushed forward which opened up the wins for us in attack. Our defence kept them scoreless. Robert Tuksar Who hardly got a free kick all night was fouled in the box to Kelvin’s delight, who calmly blasted the ball the into the top right corner from the spot. Some good general play in trying conditions. 3 goals & 3 points, well done.Seniors v Wangaratta won 4-2 Sponsored by SodensNot a great game at all. We will need to play much better to beat Diamonds next week. Robert Tuksar got a hat-trick and Darrel Mills put one away as well. Paul Rago (biscuit tin) headed over the bar from the six yard box. and later went off injured after only just 15 minutes, the number of his shirt. Don’t worry Paul we’ll get you a new shirt with number 90 on it.

Under 9s v St Pat’s lost 0-3A good entertaining game by both sides with some good passes. Only 1-0 at half-time. After having chances we were not able to find the back of the net. Good games by Aris, Jarrod and Daniel.
Under 9s v Wangaratta lost 0-3Well the boys came down to Wang to play and at half-time it was 0-0 and the Wang supporters were getting very anxious and wanting to know where we were on the ladder. We looked like the winners half way through the second half after having some great chances, Wang converted in quick succession. Best players, Jason, Jarrod and Tim, but overall a good effort against the second best team in the competition.
