Hotspurs were inspired to a 8-1 win over Benalla on Sunday.The aim of the game was to score goals to improve the goal difference and the boys delivered.At the half-time break and up 4-0, coach Peter Travassaros told the team he expected 10 goals from them.Despite the surprised and slightly worried look of the forwards and midfielders, the team went close to score another four in the second half.Paul Rago completed a hat-trick in a fine performance. Other goalscorers were Brendan Munge (2), Robert Tuksar, Peter Travassaros and Darrel Mills.Also scoring was Peter Gunning.Benalla’s only goal came from a shot from J. Strahan which hit the post and bounced back in off Gunning’s left shoulder.The Senior team now sit in fifth spot on the ladder, one point behind St Pat’s and SS and A and six points behind ladder leaders United and Panthers.More of the same is expected from the boys next week as they face Myrtleford at Myrtleford.
Reserves - won 3-1Three wins in a row for the mighty Reserves. The team played very well in patches. Special mention to Peter O, Maddo and Harro for keeping the team intact.Ladies - byeThirds - won 3-2A great team effort coming from two goals down at half-time to get up and win the game. Nick Harris and Eliot Jones were good in a team where everyone played well.
Under 16 girls - byeUnder 15s - won 11-1A good effort considering a six-week lay-off. All played very well with the boys taking chances when they came.
Under 14s - lost 1-4The team played a great game. Great goal by Jarrod and excellent goalkeeping by Phil. Good performance by everyone. Better luck next week.
Under 13s - lost 0-7Under 12s - won 2-0 on forfeit
Under 11s - won 3-0The first 15 minutes were superb, resulting in two goals and numerous chances. In a competitive game the team played some excellent soccer resulting in three nice goals. Daniel Bazzana scored two crackers while Matty Paynter slotted the third. Well played Briggsy, Daniel B, Daniel F, Seato and Steve.
