Finally two things.  This correspondent again has to apologise to Darrel Mills for the spelling of his name.  Apparently Ian has spelled it incorrectly for the last 20 years and I took it from Ian’s information.  The U11’s win the prize for the use of “smorgasbord” in their report, which will be collected this Sunday.  For you other reporters, see if you can get “vindaloo” in to your report. ( Didn’t say it was going to be easy ! )

Under 10’s Won 6 – 0

The under 10’s were on fire this weekend; they held St Pats off to win 6 to 0.   St Pats gave us a run for our money, with a hard fought game; the score doesn’t show how intense the game was.  It was great to see that all players were holding their positions and using the whole field.  Keep up the fantastic work.

Goals to Ryan W (2) Kyle (2) Joel (1) and Emil (1)

Under 11’s   Won 4 – 0

With a smorgasbord of talent to choose from, it was always going to be difficult to work out who would be subs today.  The team that started put together a great display of soccer, passing and getting it wide.  There was lots of unselfish play and great use of back passes and players in space.  Our frontmen of Chris, Jack and Harry caused constant problems for St Pats defence.  Nida, Kasper, Tom H and Michael controlled the midfield getting the ball wide and used their field play to pass to open players creating a smorgasbord of opportunities.  The defence of Tom C, Ben and Lindsay with James in goal tidied up any attack that came their way and sent great long balls forward.  Sam came on to do his usual good work up front, Jamie did the same in midfield with great application to getting the ball and Blake was solid and fast in defence.  We got the basics right kids, keep it up next week.

Goals – Jack (1), Harry (1), Tom H (2)

Under 12’s  Won  3 – 0

Under 13’s  Won 4 – 2

After a slow start last week, the 13s really showed what they are capable of, with a resounding victory over St Pats.  Helped on by the wonderful efforts of Sam B., Nick M. and Mark F. from the 12s, the team came together, worked hard and did most things superbly.  We had an early scare, but then dominated most of the rest of the game.  The defence remained strong throughout, Sam B. made some great saves and we appreciated the dogged determination of Mark F.  Midfield looked for the gaps, picked up some valuable loose balls, got them forward and many ended up just missing our in the back of the net.  Our new recruit, Marcus, showed that he is a skilful and fast striker and we are pleased to have him aboard.  We welcome Tyla back and look forward to his contribution throughout the season.  A well-deserved win!

Under 14’s   NO GAME

Under 14’s Girls   Lost 1 - 4

Under 16’s  FORFEIT

Under 17’s Girls  Lost 0 - 6

Thirds  Won 4 - 0

Another very strong and dominant performance in the first half saw Hotspurs  up 4-0 at the half time break courtesy of goals to the ever reliable Matt  Townsend & Chris Vidovic, pocket rocket Jarrod Murphy, & the ever green
coach Sean Maddocks. The team lost its way a bit in the second half(similar  to the week before) and was unable to trouble the scorer, but thanks to some  excellent defence St pats never came close to scoring. Thanks to the guys
and girls from the Under 16's who helped with numbers this week. Well done  to Casey , Gabrielle & Shannon - your effort in the second half was  outstanding, with the girls easliy handling and outplaying their male  counterparts. Solid preformance's from Glen,Tom and Marcus also impressed.  Hopefully this week we can play the full game with the same intensity  throughout the match. Well done.

Reserves  Won 3 - 1

Despite all the absentees and firepower that was missing, the Reserves along  with the Thirds as the supporting cast managed to score three goals for the second consecutive game. With scoring being a major concern before the game,
it was important for the defence to step up in which they did lead by Mark  Belgre. Along with scoring goals from Ben Porta, Daniel Foden and Johnny  Belgre it made it a good all round effort from everyone who played.

Ladies Lost 4 – 1

We played pretty well against a tough team. St Pats scored a couple of late goals to get away near the end. Great game from Alex in the sweeper position and Gabriel and Shannon also played well. Top goal from Sarah after some good team play. Fiona also played a top game in goals.

Senior Men   Won 6 – 0

It was milestone Sunday as the ever present Senior number eight celebrated a  club first milestone. Kelvin Davies became the first player to reach 400  Senior games on the weekend against St Pats and celebrated the landmark with  a second half penalty as the team finally brought their scoring boots to  rout St Pats. As a Senior career continues another one has just begun as  Chris Vidovic made his debut filling the void successfully in the absence of  key Senior players.
