Match Reports v Lavington Panthers:

Seniors: Won: 2-0: A top performance in atrocious conditions. Spurs played a smart game by sticking to the wings and getting behind their defence. Tuksar’s first goal was hit well on the turn after good work by Darrell Mills. The second goal was a solo effort by Darrell after a great pass from Rob Tudor. David Spokes was outstanding in defence, while Kanners and Bones were great in midfield. Luke kept a clean sheet in goals while the front three- Rob, Rob and Darrell were terrific. Best wishes to Rob Tudor for his overseas trip. Hope we are still on top of the league table when he gets back in four weeks time.

Reserves: Lost 1-2: Again we lost a game that we could have won. At times we did play some good soccer and definitely dominate for significant periods. The opposition did not win everything in the air like the previous two weeks though the heavy condition would account for some of this. Trevor arrived on time for once and played his first full game of the year only. He only missed 1 tackle all game and made up for that by scoring our only goal. John in goals tipped a couple of balls over the bar and looked solid all game. Guys we need to score more goals against the quality oppositions.

Ladies: Drew 1-1: This week saw the Ladies play a wet, muddy and cold game against Lavington Panthers.  We drew 1-1, a real shame not to come away with the much needed three points, however, the ladies had plenty of shots but just could not convert these to goals.

A big thanks to Dee for helping us fill in a position for us on the park and scoring our one and only goal for this week.

U'15s: Won 9-1: A great performance by these boys in very wet and uncomfortable conditions for both players and spectators. A couple of early goals to Luke and Ben gave us the perfect start. Mark came out of goals in the second half and sought revenge on other goal keepers by winning a 50 / 50 challenge and scoring his first for the year. Clint and Cullen worked the butts off and earnt the player of the week awards. Luke and Ben ended up with 3 goals each with Mark, Seato and Mitch also scoring 1 each. Another super team effort with all goals through brilliant team play. Keep it up boys.

U’13’s: Won 4-2: A good game Boys and girls. You all found that Hotspurs spirit. With in the first three minutes you scored the first goal, which was from Ricky. Then came David which was passed over from Caleb , in the mean time we saw great passing by Jessica and Brad , Jaz , Aras , Zac , Shannon and the rest of the team played well. Then came another goal by Ricky then it was Caleb which scored the last goal for the day , but we had lot of near misses even Brad had a shot also Shannon from near half way. Well David still tries to drive the ball home but as usual straight over the top. Oh yea our goalie well again , Tom puts his tallent to the test and WHAT super saves they were .  Thanks to Kai and Tim for subs. The award went Jessica. Daniel says hello.

U'11s: Won 2-0: Well we were the chosen ones today. Under leaden skies, the rain stayed away though we did play on a sodden pitch with pools of water in places. This game was the fruition of weeks of work (and some arm writing) with players passing, crossing and kicking first time according to the plan.  We began the game at a frantic pace with the ball moving up and down the field quickly but within five minutes James E. had scored from a cross from Chris W. Then began some pour defence as Panthers attacked and it took great defending by Brent to save a goal. Our defence of Gena, Jake, Paddy and Jason held firm stopping all problems. The second half began like the first with a goal from James E after a cross from Chris W. We then took control of the match with our midfield of Adrian, Robert G, Robbie B, Blake and Aleke setting up numerous chances which we unfortunately missed. Chris C and James N were busy up front but the real star at the end of the game was Michael who calmly saved a penalty which might have put Panthers back in the game. Having never beaten this team in the last two years this was a great result. Star Player - Robert Gentle.

U'10s: Won 7-1: An impressive performance from the 10's against the second team on the ladder. Despite Lavington being undermanned Hotspurs turned in their performance of the season, playing some sensational soccer in difficult conditions. Sam Cronin turned in a magnificent performance with his devastating runs turning their defence into tatters and setting up many of our great team goals. Teamwork was the key to our success as all players contributed strongly to the result. The passing was a pleasure to watch along with the space that the guys created by spreading the ball wide. Our defence was once again awesome as they repelled several dangerous attacks by the Panthers, only allowing them a consolation goal towards the end of the match. Thomas, Domenic, Dylan and Sam all turning in their best performances to date with fantastic workrates. Two of the goals were created in our own penalty area, ending up in their net without the opposition touching it! Phillip Robbie scored a hatrick as he continues to develop into an impressive striker with some clinical finishing. Star player award - Daniel Gordon for a fantastic contribution.
