9 Gold V Diamonds at Kelly Park 12-20pm kick-off
9 Black V St.Pats at Melrose Park 1-10pm
kick-off
Seniors V Benalla
won 6-1
Boys
played pretty well. The first twenty minutes were very competitive and then
gradually we asserted our superiority with some good soccer. Good pressure on our
opponents and some quality passing was the difference. Daniel Powell, David
Spokes were solid at the back, Ryan and Kanners worked hard in midfield. Possum
made some good runs down the right in the second half. Some top goals by
Kanners and Robbie Tudor. Other scorers were Millsy 2, the unlucky Tuskar 1 and
Ryan Giles.
Reserves
V Benalla won 11-0
Outstanding
performance with all fifteen players used contributing to the Res. best win in
years. Jimmy scored three but was awarded four goals by the ref. and the team
mug by the coach. Andrew got a hatrick which is pretty good considering he was
the sweeper. Bones gave his body a
searching test and found it still works and Hon scored a goal that even
surprised him. Keep up the great form.
Ladies
V Benalla won 11-0
The
ladies played well and scored some nice goals.
Mic was really sharp in front of goal and Jessie and Zoe played well in
the forwards. Great to see Amy and Georgia back with the team. Mia and Mellanie were great in midfield and
Emily was good in defence.
15’s Vs Benalla WON 13 – 1
The boys first half was exceptional with most of the
team contributing to all the goals scored apart from one mistake which gave
them a goal. Being up 9 -1 at half time probably was not a good thing as the
boys went into the second half a bit over confident and tried to score goals
from everywhere. It got better late in the second half when we piled on another
4 goals when we started to knock the ball around again.Goal Scorers were
Briggsy 4, Towny 3, Finny 2 (there is nothing he cant do at the moment) Seato 2
and Mitchell earnt his 2 late in the game after setting up a couple in the
first half and won the weekly award. We won’t mention Marks’ harbour bridge
effort either.
14's v Benalla - Won 11-0
This was a very
uneven game. Benalla seemed to be half our size, with half our experience! As a
result, the ball was rarely in their half of the field, and they did well to
keep the score as low as they did. Some great work early from Andrew Lindsay
who scored three goals. Goals also scored by Matt Reid (2), James Heath (2),
Matt Townsend (2) and Robbie Hawksworth (1). However, overall our game was
pretty sloppy due to the easy competition. We lost our sense of positioning and
team play. We won't get away with it against our next opponents, the Diamonds!
12’s V Benalla – Won 10 -0
Let’s make it clear from the beginning, the
match at training last Thursday was nothing but a trial, and as we all know
trials don’t count!!!! The real match, without unregistered players, will be
played later in the season. Even so it was a fantastic game and it was pleasing
to see so many parents and spectators enjoying the evening with the boy’s.
The
match against Benalla was a real confidence booster for the kids, not only in
terms of the score, but also with contribution made by all to the final result.
The game began with a bit of a sloppy start, where the Benalla kids threaten
our goal a number of times. It was the use of the two Liam’s to add experience
with Chris and Harry to stiffened the defence that saw the game turn around and
save Jonno from needing to play superman and fly across the goals too often. As
the game became more free flowing the midfield of Kai, Michael, Peter and Nick
pressed forward, offering multiple opportunities to the forwards. Shaun
dominated the right wing, reminiscent of the great Frenchman of yesteryear Aub
Ergine, and pinpoint crosses setting up Oliver and James in front of goal. Dan
grew in confidence and soon the Benalla defence was inundated and the goals came.
Highlight goal came when Shaun crossed to Kai who using his egg, planted it in
the goal with a forceful header. Kai with four, Olly and Shaun with three each
scored the goals.
Under 11's Versus U 10's Won 6 – 0
Under grey skies the team took to the field to try to
remember the game skills last used a fortnight ago, which they did to score a
plethora of goals. It was a scratchy first half with the defence of Gena,
Patrick, Jason and Adrian keeping a clean sheet and the team going into the
break one nil up courtesy of a Chris W goal. We got our act together in the
second half with the mid-field and forwards passing and combining together.
Tom, Robert G, Brent, Blake, Chris C, James N, Robert B all picked up the tempo
with James E putting his usual all round effort and getting one goal while
Chris W got the other four. Michael had little work to do in goal but he will
be tested next week. It was a pleasing effort and we are looking forward to the
game at Cobram.
