Seniors v TCW, lost 1-5

A total disgrace! I apologise on behalf of the team to our supporters and more importantly to Darrel as we did not make his 300th game one that he will want to remember. We have four games remaining before the finals and hopefully we can perform much better and finish either second or third on the ladder which would give us our best possible path to make the Grand Final and maybe redeem ourselves and make Darrel’s 300th game year something to remember.

Ladies v TCW, won 6-0

Another great game. After a hard fought 1st half we went into the break up 1 – 0. In the second half we step up a gear putting away another 5-0 goals for a comfortable 6 –0 win. (2 goals to Georgia, 2 to Amy, 1 to Jess and an own goal). Welcome back to Mia who had a great 1st game back following holidays. I hope everyone is ready for a tough game next week against SSA.

Thirds v TCW, lost 0-5

In a tough encounter we had trouble keeping up with this top 3 side. We were able to contain them to 0-1 at the half-time break and then we just run out of legs. Well this week is a new week and SS&A is upon us, top eight spot on the line that can make or break our season. It is important that we are at our best and widen the gap in terms of points.

Under 15s v TCW, lost 2-4

After the heavy rain on Saturday, we were prepared for a wet and soggy pitch at Kelly Park, fortunately the rain cleared but we were faced with a heavy fog at 8.30 in the morning. This did not stop the Hotspurs who opened the game in a bright mood, the passing and team work was good and before long Peter Muth finished off a good goal after excellent lead up work by Amy. Twin City fought back and found a hole in our defence to level the score at half time. The second half started off badly and before long we were down 3 - 1, we fought back and Georgia scored a great individual goal to bring us back in striking distance but unfortunately they scored again to finish the game at 2 - 4. The team played great football and missed a couple of good chances which could have leveled us at 4 all, but it wasn't to be. Best players were Tom and Brad, thanks to the Seato, Briggsy and David for filling in, let's maintain the form and go into the SSA game with confidence of achieving an honourable result.

Under 15s v St Pats, won 4-1

After a tough match against SSA last week we were looking for a better result, we started off positively but were soon behind 1 nil due to a break away goal, the damage could have been worse except for some fine keeping by Seato who took on their breakaway player and stopped the shot at goal. We soon recovered through a good goal by Georgia and the Peter scored a great goal to put us up 2 - 1. The second half was much better with further goals by Pat and Georgia however our finishing was sloppy which resulted in many missed chances from in front of St Pats goal. Best players were Peter Muth and Georgia, Stan proved invaluable on the left side with many fine left foot crosses. Thanks to Luke and Seato for filling in again.

Under14s v TCW, lost 1-4

A great first half with an early goal by Luke and great team play saw us lead the match at half time 1-0.  Twin City came out fighting and equalled the scoreline and our team's heads dropped letting them run freely and score three more.  A disappointing result for such a great first half where we really showed them how good our team can be!  Come on Spurs let’s work together and finish the last few games on a good note.

Junior Girls v TCW

Lack of numbers saw the girls having to forfeit once again but played a friendly against Twin City.  Thanks to Emily, Kelly, Casey, Shannon, Jess & Bec for turning up to play.  This week's game is at home against SS&A.

Under 13s v TCW, lost 0-2
A disappointing result against a team that we should have defeated. Despite having most of the play we were unable to convert, while TCW had two
chances (one individual run and a dubious penalty) and converted both. Although we didn't play badly, the team lacked the conviction and urgency
that we had shown against Wangaratta last week. With matches against SS&A and United coming up, we will have to show real commitment from all team members for the full game and train well if we really want to win. Alex Yerbury recieved a well earned best player award for a spirited and well judged game in goal.

Under 12s v TCW, lost 7-2

Well girls and boys, it was a hard game .We were in the lead for a while until they found the back of the net, we dropped our guard. Goals scored by Caleb, Ricky and don’t forget to sell those raffle tickets kids. Great goal keeping Tom. Another hard game next week, we can do it.

Under 11s v TCW, lost 0-2

A much improved effort this week, one of the best for a long time. Did not give up in defence all day, with Chris Passett best on ground up the back with some strong runs out of defence, Kai Ward 2 points for effort in goals and Jason Dalitz one point for doggedness. Encouragement award went to James Moriarty. This was a team effort against one of the top sides in the competition, with all players contributing all day. Well done - now let's see if we can do this at home!

Under 9s v SS&A (Red), won 8-0

A much improved performance resulted in a goal spree against an improved SS&A. Despite a slow start to the game in difficult wet conditions, the pressure on their defence finally told as Sam Cronin swooped on a goalkeeping mistake to drive home from close range. From there on it was an impressive performance of keeping possession, pin point passing and some classy finishing by our strikers resulting in a half time score of 6-0.

Our defence was again back to its best with James, Jocelyn, Ben and Rebecca all performing well as several SS&A counter attacks were swiftly extinguished. It was great to have a midfield that were all prepared to work, lay off many sweet passes and then score a few goals. Dominic relished the opportunity (Happy 9th birthday) of playing up front, creating a lot of space and having several goal attempts. Dylan and Michael both lifted with improved workrates and tackling. Sam (1), Max (1), Tyla (2) and Daniel (4) were all magnificent as they set about their demolition of the SS&A defence with relentless raid after raid, selflessly setting each other up for goals and many other attempts. A much improved effort guys, lets keep it up for 3 more matches. Star Player award: Michael Johnson for improved tackling.

Next week: v Twin City (blue) @ Home K.O. 11:30. Star player awards: Gordons, Oranges: Johnsons
