Seniors Thumped Murray Border Cobram United 5-0
Another outstanding result. We struggled to find the back of the net in the first half and only went into the break 1 up. Good running and determination finally wore them down and the opportunities came a plenty. Our defence rarely made an error and when we did it was covered up quickly by Nat, keeping a clean sheet (that’s on the field!), and Andy, Munge and Wayno. Great result boys. We still need to work on our passing and possession and play each game to the end, I’m starting to like winning five nil.
Ladies v Cobram won 11-0
The score pretty much said it all. All ladies played well with Narelle scoring her first goal for the season and Lauren Jacobs scoring in her first senior match.
Reserves v Cobram Lost 2-4
Thirds v Cobram won 4-2
Our second win on the trot and it was a spirited and determined performance as the team erased Cobram’s lead on two occasions. Mick and Cam are starting to form a nice combination up front and with Hamo, Will, Nick and Johnny controlling the midfield, the team is starting to play to their potential. Crozo and Trev are causing the opposition strikers plenty of grief and Frankie is growing in confidence each week between the sticks. Great goals to Cam, Hamo, Nick and Mick. Well done fellas!
Under 18 Girls v St Pats lost 5-1
Another hard game for the girls. The goal was scored by Kristy. Our new players are getting more confident and we can only improve from here.
Under 15s v Cobram Lost 0 - 9
An early morning start for the Under 15's - thank you boys and parents for making the effort to travel to Barooga in the early hours it is much appreciated. Joshua, Thomas, Patrick & Nathan from Under 14s and also Mark Belgre and Luke Briggs from Under 13s thanks to them and their parents for helping out the 15s.
The team played well against a strong opposition. Good games by Phil & Briggsy, great improvement Matt Lloyd.
Keep up the good goalkeeping Rhys. Please all turn up for training as we need to improve our skills and fitness.
Under 14s v Cobram lost 1-5
Under 13s v Cobram lost 5-2
A slow start for the 13s with Cobram getting four early goals, we need to mark up and not let teams get the better of us early. A better second half with players marking up and showing some aggression saw two goals scored by Ben & Briggsy and keeping Cobram to only one goal. Players need to remember to play the whistle regardless of the decision or indecision. Great games by Matt.P, Briggsy & Seato who never gave in against a tough opposition with the rest of the team improving as the match went on. Keep up the good goal keeping Mark.
Hope you had a great birthday party Kristy - we missed you!
Under 11s v Cobram lost 0-9
Under 10s
Under 9s Hotspurs Gold v Hotspurs Black won 7-0
Another strong all round performance from the team. We started to string together some periods of great passing, resulting in goals to our strike force of Jason Dalitz (2) Jake Gardiner (2) James Eggleston (2) and Chris Wright. Some strong defence once again from Rebecca, James and Brent resulted in a clean sheet. Ben and Brent both kept goal. Our midfield of Isabelle, Daniel, Max (excellent work rate) and Patrick provided many chances for the strikers. Once we start to spread out a little more we will improve dramatically. Both, throw-ins and corners were also much improved. Great team effort.
Star player award - Isabelle for an inspirational debut.
