Seniors v Cobram won 3-2
In a game that had everything weather wise, we started well, controlling the game while the rain came down. We scored three in the first half and the score should’ve been at least six but we didn’t make the most of dominating possession. The second half was a disgrace. Luckily Nat did his job well and made some excellent saves to keep their score down to two and give us three points. The lack of attendance at training and the late nights out from some of the players is starting to show. We need to improve and finish the rest of the league games well if we are to finish 2nd on the ladder.
Ladies v Cobram won 4-0
How sweet it is to find the net! That first one though was a long time coming. It wasn't until the last two minutes in the first half that Lisa was able to send one home. Playing one short didn't really translate to our performance on the field as the Spurs dominated play all game. Zoe in attack played sensationally, but unfortunately had to be helped from the field a few minutes short of full time with an ankle injury. Wishing you a speedy recovery Zoe, rest in the knowledge that this win would not have been possible without you! Tough defence once again kept the opposition scoreless, but full credit to the team for a competitive and enjoyable match.
Hope everyone's firing on all engines this week for the Wednesday night clash against Diamonds, let’s see if we can't rattle their cage in time for finals.
Reserves v Cobram won 4-2
A great win by the reserves team, who showed plenty of spirit to down the highly fancied Cobram Team.
2 Early goals got us in front, a lead we held until half time. After the break Cobram Lifted and Scroed 2 goals to make it 2 all. Once again the Spurs rose and scored 2 more to take the score to 4-2. A great team performance, with Mick Luken dazzling up front while Josh Evans had asolid game in goals. As usual Jimmy did a tonne of work and Wayno relished his chance in the ressies picking up 2 goals.
Thirds v Cobram drew 1-1
Considering the number of chances we had we should have scored more than one goal. It was an own goal from a Johnny B cross which came off their sweeper and in the back of the net that drew us level and Johnny showed how happy he really was about it. Solid performances from Hamo in the midfield and Tim at the back were highlights of our match. Three games to go until the serious business starts. Thanks to Briggsy for filling in.
Under 15s v TCW drew 3-3 (29/7/01)
A rather slow start going into half time at 1 all. In the second half Twin City scored two quick goals putting us down 3 - 1. Good comeback with a goal from Finny and Briggsy's equaliser in the last two minutes of the game. Great to see Rhys out on the field and thanks to Hugh for filling in as goalie.
Under 15s v Cobram lost 1-3
Team played well considering they were one man down until half time. Cobram only scored the first goal in the last few minutes of the first half. An equaliser goal scored by Finny early in the second half lifted the team, but Cobram were relentless. A good result against a very strong team. Thanks to Matt C. for filling in for Rhys who had rep. commitments. A big thanks to Tom, Josh and Peter for helping out.
(unauthorised match report. An unlucky 1-3 defeat for the under 15s but still one of the best games they have had all season. Although limited to 10 players for most of the game everyone played really well. Cobram scored from a corner with about 0.001 seconds remaining in the first half. Finny equalised when he beat the keeper after a great run down the left. Cobram regained the lead after a soft penalty and scored again when players were appealing to the referee for an offside that the ref did not call even though the linesman did. Hugh played an improved game, Finny and Ric and Jonsie played especially well and Matt had a great game in goals with some excellent saves. Thankyou the 14s for filling in. Our best team effort this year, keep up the good work)
Under 14s v SS&A lost 0-6 (Night match)
Bad luck boys & girls, but well played. Thanks to Luke , Seato , Daniel for helping out .
Under 14s v SS&A lost 1-5
A bit of bad luck, next time. Only goal scored was by Josh well done. Thank you to Seato, Luke, Daniel, Andrew for filling in where needed.
Under 11s v TCW lost 0-1
A bit of bad luck, maybe next time. Great game any way, well done to Jessica Segelow for coming third in her karate tournament in Sydney last weekend.
Under 9s
Hotspurs Gold v Panthers won 2-0 (on forfeit)
Hotspurs Black v St Pats lost 0-4
Robert Gentle was the captain for this match. The start of the game saw the ball in our half for a while. Tyler Windham our first half goalie made a brilliant save off the line and the defence was tested time and again but Thomas Schultz was a key player clearing the ball. The second half we played together as a team and two good runs at goal by Sam Gunning and Robert Gentle almost got us on the board. Emily was a tireless tackler and Blake Schroeter, time and again thwarted St Pats attacks. The final score of 4 - 0 in St Pats favour did not reflect our effort which was excellent.
Under 18 girls v St Pats lost 0-6
Under 14s v Cobram lost 0-3
Under 13s v Cobram lost 1-6
Under 12s v Cobram postponed
Under 11s v Cobram lost 1-5
Under 10s bye
