Seniors v Albury City won 4-1
We started very slowly and flat. Our passing and ball control was as poor as our running and commitment in the first half. After going one nil down early in the second half our fight and desire came back to us and we began to get on with the job. We did have a big week last week and it left us a bit flat for this week and training was poorly attended during the week which also showed on the field. Nat back in goals since injuring his shoulder had a great game making some excellent saves, one of which could have put City two up. Brendon Munge had another outstanding game and scored after running the length of the field to support, receiving a pass and slotting it past the City goalkeeper like a seasoned striker. He then run the length of the field again to celebrate his the goal, the home crowed loved it especially Wildy.
Thirds v Albury City drew 0-0
The best result we could hope for to hold the top side to only their 2nd draw of the season. It also meant it was our first clean sheet,
well done Frank, Crozo (Uptown Boy), Trev (Air Swing Boy) and Pete (Super Coach). Midfield trying hard all game especially Hamo and Will Schwarz in the centre giving Mick and Mark plenty of shots on goal in which they were unlucky to convert. With the game still able to be won by both sides it is reassuring that we have the comfort of two highly experienced players in 49 year old Belgre snr (Tags) and not closely behind in age Will Mollison. Well done to everyone involved, hopefully we can get yet another clean sheet as well as win against our old rivals Wang on Wednesday night. Special mention to our Manageress Mrs. B (elgre) who has been appointed first aid person.
Under 14s v Twin City Wanderers lost 0-2
Great game boys, well done Matt for goal keeping .
Thank you to Daniel Foden, Andrew Lindsay, Luke Briggs, Mark Belgre for helping out the 14s.
Under 11s V Albury City lost 3-4
Great game girls & boys, welcome to the team Jared Ellison. Bad luck Jessica B, Aras, Caleb, Paddy trying to score maybe next time. Goals scored by David, Caleb, Ricky well done.
Under 10s v Albury City won 5-4
Slow start by the Hotspurs, being down 2 goals while the boys were asleep. Thank goodness they woke in time and started scoring goals. A very exciting game, with the parents straining the rope at the sideline for better views. Fabulous team work from Tim Holt and Shaun Dalitz and good backup by the midfield in Liam O'Dwyer and Oliver Haynes. Daniel Ryan giving a great performance in defence improving each game. Best players -as mentioned.
Under 9s
Hotspurs Black v Panthers won 1-0
The first half of the game was very even with the play changing ends often. Joceylin Bartram was a dynamo always in the fray defending wherever she was needed. Gena Furze our goalie kept the ball from the back of our net. We did get a very near miss when one of our shots hit the post but the half time score of 0 - 0 reflected the defensive play of both teams. The second half
saw much more attacking play with our second half goalie Julia Stuckey not letting any balls past her. An inspired run by Phillip Robbie in the dying minutes of the game put us 1 - 0 in the lead.
Hotspurs Gold v Melrose drew 0-0
A much improved performance from the Golden Hotspurs against formidable unbeaten opposition. Hotspurs slowly starting to turn around a mid season slump in form due mainly to an increased work effort from all the players.
We created several goal scoring opportunities during the first half with out success. Daniel, Ben, Rebecca, Chris Wright and James Ellis all worked hard in defence to keep the Rangers scoreless. Our new midfield combination of Isabella, Chris Cambey and Max combined well to create several chances, all without luck. Jake Gardiner turned in his best game of the season almost being rewarded with a fine individual run towards goal in the second half only to be let down by an off target shot. James Eggleston created several scoring opportunities for his fellow teammates all without success. If we can continue to turn in efforts like this one the goals are only a matter of time. Daniel and Max both turned in fine goalkeeping efforts. We will need to continue the form improvement for next week’s local Derby against the other Hotspurs under 9's team. Keep up the work rate guys and gals.
Star player award - James Eggleston for creating numerous goal attempts.
Ladies v Albury City won 9-1
Reserves v Albury City won 3-0
Under 15s v SS&A lost 0-5
Under 13s bye
Under 12s V Albury City won 8-1
