Seniors v Melrose Park Rangers won 3-1 (Mills, Giles, Tuksar)
It was good to be back playing on such a lovely surface on our home ground. We played far better this week and deserved the win. We only went to the break one up after creating many scoring opportunities and we finally scored through good team passing when Brett laid one to Darrel to score our first goal. The second half was much the same as the first, although we were a little shaky for the first 10 minutes we soon got back into the game again creating opportunities galore. Ryan slotted our second goal from close range belting it high in to the roof of the net. Well done Ryan on your first goal this year. Late in the second half after some not so good defensive work on the midfield Melrose's coach Mick found himself in too much space on the left and chipped a cross that defied gravity and fell inside the six yard box where Munge took a couple of air swings before Melrose finally bundled the ball over our goal line. Tuksar sealed the three points for us when he got in behind Melrose's defence and slotted home our third just before full time. Darrel, Ryan, Andy, Scott and Harro where our best on the day. Ben Holt was unlucky not to have scored but he will be back for four weeks at the end of this month and we hope he can add to his three goals he has scored this year.
Goal scorers thus far- (6) Davies, McRitchie, Tuksar. (5) Cremer. (3) Holt. (2) Mills. (1) Pendlebury, Pyka.

Reserves v Melrose won

Ladies v Melrose Park won 17-0
Without too much pressure, Hotspurs were able to play at their own pace and develop some great passages of play. A huge contribution was made by Sarah K., notching up half a dozen goals, and Georgia was also having a blinder. On a venture up front, Narelle took a hard tackle and the resulting penalty kick found the back of the net, thanks to Mia yet again. During the second half Al was let out of the box and worked her magic in attack, with Amy filling in as goalie. While swaps happened all over the ground, the final score is a testimony to team work. Well deserved Hotspurs! Great to see Lauren could be there, despite being injured, all the best for a speedy recovery!

Under 15s v Melrose lost 0-5
Great game by all. A major improvement from last time's encounter (lost 17-1). Some exceptional saves by our great goalkeeper Rhys. Backline were tested for the whole game and showed their strength in keeping the score this low. Big thanks to Josh, Matt & Thomas from U'14's and Briggsy and Daniel F from U13's. Keep up the good work.

Under 14s v St Patricks won 4-0
It was great to win again. Our defence played really well. Seato, Tom and Brad outstanding. Matt and Damian also had strong games.

Under 13s V Melrose won 9-3
We have not had a great start to the season, bye after bye have proven to be our undoing in a quest to gain some consistency. An early scare saw us recover to lead 3-1 only to be pegged back just before the half time whistle. 3-3 at the long break and some sole searching, on resumption of the second half we set about demolishing our opponents. For the second game in a row (although there were two weeks off between games) we left our opponents wondering what had hit them. Again it was through creating space off the ball and keeping our positions we were able to allow our forwards to weave their magic. By the end of the second half Luke Briggs (5), Kristy Gillespie and our U'12 player Glenn Suckey (1) had helped themselves to goals. At the other end we had Clemmo, Ben, Sam and Daniel help Mark to a clear sheet in the second half. Our midfield of Seato, Simon, Alex, Matty and James placed some inch perfect passes for our forwards to run on to. The majority of our goals coming from balls sent down the wing and then cut back to be tapped into the net. I must admit that although the bye situation has not helped us, we seem to be applying ourselves more and our tactics are paying off. Great win guys and gal, good luck to Kristy and Luke for their rep games this weekend, we will miss you. Lets hope that we can bring home the bacon against Wangaratta.

Under 10s v Melrose lost 1-9
Players tried very hard against a very talented Melrose team, with a stronger then usual "team effort " rather than any individual performances. Keep up the teamwork boys ! Best players, Daniel Ryan, Jason Dalitz, Chris Besant.

Under 9s Gold v Diamonds won 6-0
A strong performance from the relentless "spurs". Despite the absence of James Eggleston up front we slotted home another six goals. Jake Gardiner relishing the extra responsibility up front scoring a well deserved hat-trick. Chris Cambey and James Ellis both kept goal, keeping the Diamonds scoreless. The defence of Rebecca, Brent and Daniel all worked hard to assist the midfield. Ben, Patrick and Max who put some magnificent passages of passing together setting up our strikers to score. Additional goals were added by Chris Wright (2) and Daniel who drove home a long range rocket. We will need to be at our best for the top of the table clash with SS & A next week, but if we maintain our current work ethic I am confident we can maintain our unbeaten record. Great result team.
Starplayer award - Max Humphries for his great work effort.

Hotspurs Black v Albury United lost 0-2
It was an overcast afternoon when we kicked off. The first half was very even with some good breaks down the wing and a huge kick by Blake Schroeter from half way to the penalty area. We couldn't make the most of our chances and they scored in one of the skirmishes in our goalmouth. The rain came down in the second half but it didn't dampen our spirits with Philip Robbie unlucky with a good shot at goal. Our goalie Sam Cronin was remarkably cool under pressure from their forwards. We eventually went down 2 - 0 but it was a close call.
