The first night match of the season was played on a chilly night after a wet day which made for slick conditions. We started very poorly. Our first touch and passing was atrocious. Maybe the conditions didn't help and a few players hadn't played for over a week. We managed to get two goals early thanks to Scotty Creamer before Javi was sent from the field for what most regard was an unfair dismissal. Diamonds keep the pressure on with an extra man and manage to score just before half time due to our poor clearance and equally poor making. The second half saw the spurs desperate to not concede another goal and with a much-improved performance manage to create several scoring chances and with the help of Robert Tuksar's detachable toe we did score. A good gutsy win in the end.
It was a butcherfest. 10 yellow cards in all but unluckily we went down. It was good to see the boys try as hard as they did. If the same commitment is shown every game we will win the premiership.
My my our park is lovely. And to beat Wang easily was very satisfying. The first goal came when Elliot Jones beat his man down the left side then crossed to the penalty spot where big man (NOT) Munger flew high to get one of many headers for the day. The ball went high and back and came down in the path of fellow big man Rago who calmly slotted the volley into the opposite corner. Darrel got passed his man on the left side of the box and passed their keeper on the inside post for the second. The third goal came when Kel got the ball on the right, looked up and saw Darrel and Rago in the box. He crossed it anyhow and to every ones surprise Paul headed the ball down from the back post to the oncoming Mills to slot it home from six yards. We switched off a little in the second half and only scored one more goal which came from a free kick which Darrel struck sweetly at the keeper who couldn't hold onto and Robert Tuksar Boot scooted it over the line, Yeh ha! It looked like Darrel was after a hat-trick and might have got it if he didn't tackle himself so well
Great headed goal by Peter Milton who came on as a super sub in the second half and the other goal for Steve saw the boys home with a good win.
Some top soccer for the most part but we must concentrate for the whole match. Great game on his return from Ben. Excellent contributions from Ryan, Elliot, Michael, Peter, David and Nat. Goals to David 2, Ryan and Ben.
Fantastic win girls and boys, very well played every one. Goal scorers, Pat Lindsey 4, Amy Chapman 1, Luke Brigs 1.
Wang proved too strong on the day. There was some great defensive play from Zac, Glen and Sam. James played well as forward. Goalkeepers Todd and Alex did a great job in goals.
The team played well and well done to Caleb Martin for scoring.
A great spectacle with Hotspurs letting one get away. We had by far more chances than the opposition but could not find the back of the net. We hit the woodwork and must have had 30 shots. Best players, Shaun, Tim and Johnny, Michael, Ryan and Ben all contributed. Better luck next week boys.
On Sunday we play SS&A at Glen Park.
All teams play at normal times.
