Seniors v Mrytleford won 2-0 (Saturday)
HOTSPURS v Wodonga Diamonds – Sunday 30th July 2000
Seniors v drew 0-0
Created plenty of scoring opportunities throughout the entire game but were unable to score. Ryan Giles had an excellent game keeping the SAW leading goal scorer goalless. Kelvin back from injury plays the whole game without breaking anything else, that’s a miracle and a relief to him. Diamonds played well and in the end they could’ve came away with a win if it hadn’t been for some excellent defence and great goal keeping, which we’ve come to expect from Peter Gunning. One point is good enough at this stage, keeping us a point clear of United, but we must score in our last two matches and beat Albury City and Melrose Park Rangers to be league champions." Do you really want it", thanks Ricky M.
Reserves lost 0-4
A committed effort. Everyone tried 100%. A few mistakes cost us goals, otherwise a good game. Special mention to Jimmy for an outstanding game, also to Peter, Wayne, Harro and Maddo.
Ladies won 6-0
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP IN SIGHT. Well done Amy for breaking her goal scoring record.
Thirds lost 0-2
Another disappointing performance. Some hard training for conditioning wouldn’t be astray before the Cup Finals. This may help us be hungrier to go in for the ball. Top contributions from Nick H, Thomas, Michael and Dave. Some flashes of skill from John and Omar. Sad to hear we’re lost Nick C for the season through a broken shoulder.
Under 16s Girls
Under 14s lost 0-1
Another good performance by this team. Good to see the excellent passing and the strong defence. Phil, Briggsy, Josh, Hugh and Nick played very well in a good team effort.
Under 13s – bye
Under 12s drew 2-2
A lucky result for us today. We had too many passengers and were often caught standing on our heels. The team played well for five minutes, in which we scored two goals to Matty P and Kristy.
Under 11s drew 3-3
A great start saw a committed Hotspurs side take a two nil lead courtesy of Mat T and Daniel. The team then proceeded to self-destruct and mid way through the second half tailed 3-2. To the credit of the boys we managed to level the score and get an important point coming up to the finals. Good games to Mat R, Mat T, Glem, Rob and Luke.
Under 10s - 3-0
Fantastic games girls and boys. You all put in 100 per cent in the game. Bad luck to Jessica, Tom, David, Steven, Daniel for trying for goals. Goals by Caleb 3.
Under 9s drew 1-1
We went into this game a little undermanned without Tim and Daniel, but we really never looked like losing with Diamonds scoring a late goal to salvage a draw. Best players, Jason Dalitz that makes it two weeks in a row, Oliver Haynes and Ben Clement. Coach’s best efforts to Ryan Bazanna.
