250 not out
Congratulations to Hotspurs captain Darrel Mills who notched up his 250th senior game on the weekend and capped it off with a goal. Mills has 105 senior goals with Hotspurs. Mills has played with Hotspurs since he was a junior, except for a couple of years with Melrose when Spurs could not field a team. He also played for the now defunct Border Soccer Club. Mills has played the second most games for the club with mid-fielder Kelvin Davies sitting on 287 games for his Hotspurs career with Andy Harbick following in third with 214 games. Striker Robert Tuksar has 189 games to his name but has the most amount of goals at 131.
Riverina Cup
The seniors played Albury United Saturday 15th July 2000 in the second round of the Riverina Cup. The commitment from us was there this time and we won convincingly with four goals to one. Goal scorers were Javi, Rago, Darrel and Robert.
HOTSPURS v Wodonga Panthers – Sunday 16th July 2000
Seniors v won 4-1
A slow star to the game was expected as the boys backed up from the previous day. Well done Millsy scoring from a corner kick in his 250th first grade game.
Four more wins and the league is ours.
Reserves lost 1-3
The boys would like to formally apologise to our supporters for our dismal display. Training might help! The score could have been worse if not for Nat who had plenty to do in goals.
Ladies won 19-0
As the result indicates the team played exceptionally well. Thanks to the Chapman twins for filling in. Goals to Katrina 9, Amy S 5, Amy C 2, Narelle and Georgia, plus two more, (sorry we couldn’t remember the other scorers).
Thirds lost 1-2
A case of missed opportunities, especially in the early stages and then our midfield fell defence fell away. Special mention to Dave, Thomas, Ryan, Ben, Trev, Peter, while John found great determination in the second half.
Under 16s Girls won 2-0
An impressive display with good teamwork. It was good to have all of our players available. Good games from Fiona Smith, the Chapman Twins and Heidi. Goals to Amy and Georgia. Welcome aboard Jessica Briggs.
Under 14s bye
Under 13s won on forfeit
Under 12s won 7-0
A dominating display, especially in the first half in which we scored six goals. The team played some excellent soccer. Well played Kristy, Simon, Seato and Luke. Goals to Luke 4, Seato, Matty P and Daniel
Under 11s drew 1-1
A much improved performance, considering they beat us 6-1 last time around. All players contributed in a fine performance. Special mention to Andrew Lindsay and Glenn Stucky. A well-worked team goal which illustrated that training is paying dividends.
Under 10s lost 1-5
Hard game girl and boys. Great goal by David, bad luck Aras, Jessica. Next time you’ll score. Thank you to Johnny and Tim for helping out.
Under 9s bye
