HOTSPURS V ALBURY UNITED

Seniors lost 1-2

Reserves won 2-1

Ladies won 12-0

Thirds won 4-2

Another wet and cold day but the victory was very warming. Some classic passing from the Miltons, Dave and Pete was a feature of the game. Tags was calm in defence while Ryan’s two goals along with one each from Pete and Dave insured our win.

Under 16 girls bye

Under 15s bye

Under 14s bye

Under 13s drew 1-1

Great game by all players. Goal scored by Amy and shots by Brad and Ted. Thank you to parents for help in setting up the grounds and canteen. Thanks to our subs and goalkeeper.

Under 12s won 3-0

We again met difficult conditions and a determined opposition. The team played some good soccer in patches. Goals to Briggsy (2) and Simon (1). Good games from Ben, Tom, Clemo, Sam and Alex. It’s good to see the boys chase back. The running at training is starting to pay dividends.

Under 11s lost 0-4

A poor first half in which we let in three soft goals. An inspirational speech by the coach at half-time saw a far more committed outfit take the game up to the opposition. It’s a pity we are not capable of playing well for a full game. Good games to Daniel, Todd and Mat Townsend.

Under 10s lost 1-6

A thank you to the Under 9s sub Tim and Kia for playing. Great plays team. Great goalkeeping Tom and Jarrod who did a spectacular save after he was chasing the ball and dived for it and just touched it to knock it out. Bad luck Jessica in three attempts at goal. Goal by Caleb. Great play by Daniel, Brad, Zac, Steven, Cris, Tom and David. Thank you to Bradley’s mum for buying the kids a treat. Thank you Keven Briggs for helping out.

Under 9s drew 1-1

This was our big game of the season playing the top team. We lead all day only to see United tie up the game late in the second half. Outstanding efforts put in by Daniel, Johnny and Kye under terrible playing conditions. I am sure we will get another crack at this team in the finals.

HOTSPURS V MYRTLEFORD

Thirds won 1-0

In bitterly cold rain-sleet and on a waterlogged field, the team played a magnificent defensive game after brilliant midfielder Pete slotted home the only goal of the match. Nat was brilliant in goals and was well supported by a wonderful display from Thomas. Tags, Dave, Will, Michael, Omar also contributed well.

Thirds lost 2-2 (night game)

After taking the competition lead from Myrtleford the game before, the team missing some key players took on a full-strength Myrtleford at home. After scoring first it appeared a repeat of the previous game could be on. Myrtleford however proved why they had been competition leaders and set about giving us a soccer lesson. Nat again showed his class in goals while Dave’s goal was a gem. The win to Myrtleford puts them back on top of the table, just one point clear of Hotspurs.

Under 12s won 3-1

In extremely difficult conditions, the team at last started to show their potential. Goals to Briggsy (2) and Ben. Well played everyone.
