Under 11’s V Albury City Draw 1 – 1
Under 12’s V Albury City Lost 2 – 4
Around 10 minutes into this game (2nd vs 3rd) and we found ourselves 4-0 Down.
All champion teams are built around a strong defence and with Harry at centre back and Marcus at left back we have two of the best defenders in the U12 competition. Supported by the ever dependable Sarsha and Riley we have the foundation of a very good back four.
However without a defensive presence from our central midfielders and wing forwards and defensive pressure from our strikers our back four are left struggling to contain our oppositions forwards along with their midfielders streaming into our defensive half.
City scored twice from long shots over our GK’s head, once from a cross to the box, and lastly from a free kick hit perfectly by City’s star player again over our GK’s head.
After this initial onslaught our team settled and started to get into the game scoring once from a long shot from Josh (spilt by their GK and hammered in by Kye) and again from an indirect free kick given after the City GK bounced the ball in the process of kicking the ball out from his defensive area. Connor stepped up to take the indirect free kick and expertly slotted it past their wall beating their GK in the process. Great free kick and well done Connor.
First half finished 4-2.
The second half was a closer struggle and no goals were scored. City kept their best player at centre back and we were unable to convert from several scoring chances. During one of our corners Kye was flattened in the box however no penalty was called. City also created several chances held out by a very determined and closer marking line up assisted by a more determined effort from our midfield and forwards getting back to assist.
The game finished at 4-2 which didn’t reflect the closeness of the game (after the first 10 minutes) and showed that we can match it with the other top four sides if our intensity matches our opposition from the initial kick off at the start to the last kick of the game. Intensity, Intensity, Intensity.
We played well in patches and need to support each other out on the field, effort going forward must match defensive effort when we don’t have the ball.
LOST 4-2.
Sorry I lost my game notes and couldn’t remember who won the coaches awards.
GO HOTSPURS.
Under 12’s Girls V Albury City Lost 3 – 4
These girls battled well and deserved to win. They passed the ball around well and held possession. Halle was strong up front and was well supported by Charlotte. The midfield moved the ball around well with Sarsha, Bella and Ava doing well. The defenders were strong and played well with Yasmin clearing the ball when it was near her. Ev did an awesome job in goals, Super proud of the efforts girls, keep working as a team and good things will happen!!
McDonalds award: Halle, Blockbuster: Yasmin and Intencity: Charlotte
Under 13’s V Albury City Draw 3 – 3
A good solid start to the match. We scored first with scramble in the goal mouth and Connor scoring. Our second came from a Felix free kick and Wendell was in the right place at the right time to score our third. There was good communication between the players and much passing to feet. Scott was solid in goals and Manny as always dependable in the back line.
Coach’s awards: Marcus, Felix and Josh
Under 14’s V Albury City Lost 1 – 4
It would be wrong to say that Hotspurs fudged their chances on Sundae of remaining on top of the ladder but the end result was a disappointing loss against a quality team. The opposition kicked the first goal, before a finely calculated lob from Luke equalised in what was the sweetest moment of the match. The fans cheered in their hundreds and thousands. Ray did his best to block most of the shots at goal but luck desserted the team. Three more opposition goals compounded the Hotspurs problems, melting the team’s hopes like chocolate left in the sun, and the final result was a 1-4 loss. Keep the dream alive, ‘Spurs, the season isn’t over yet.
Under 14’s Girls V Albury City Lost 0 – 6
Under 16’s V Albury City Lost 0 – 5
Under 17’s Girls V Albury City Lost 0 – 6
Third’s V Albury City Lost 0 – 1
The thirds played well against a team who beat us easily last time. Our opponents only scored in the last five minutes to defeat us. The defence was again outstanding with Joel in goals and John B, Sajit, Indra, Karl and Caleb all playing very well. We had our chances to score but just did not take them. Good effort by the team.
Over 35’s V Albury City Lost 0 – 6
A very disappointing first half where the opposition played better than us by passing to their unmarked men & slotting the ball through to their faster forwards & score 5 goals.
A team talk at the break came to the conclusion that we may have to shore up the midfield!! The second half was a much improved display from Hotspurs with the team holding, passing & creating some chances for ourselves. We were able to hold our own with a penalty to them the only difference in the final stages. A fantastic effort in the second half from every player.
Reserve Women V Albury City Won 2 – 0
Wow!! What a game, the girls all warmed up together and held possession for most of the game with determination the girls held out and won the game. Gios pushed hard all game up and down her wing and was rewarded with a gutsy goal after a great cross from Kaels. Kt battled well all game and finished an awesome one on one with the keeper with 10 minutes to go. The defenders were strong all game with Megan leading the way and Dani and Kaylah both having solid games. A fantastic team effort with the girls all playing for each other!! Jess that one was for you mate, we hope all is well and your back with us soon.
Reserves V Albury City Won 3 – 1
The Ressies continued their really good form and defeated a team who were above them on the league table. Milky got a great hattrick and he was well supported by Dhan and Santi up front. The defence was again very sound led by Tuksar and Middi. The midfield of Irish, Viders and Corkett was also very effective. Top win to the reserves.
Ladies V Albury City Lost 0 – 14
Seniors V Albury City Lost 0 – 2
Spurs had their chances in a game where neither team created a lot in front of goal. Our opponents made the most of theirs. Best players for Hotspurs were John Cochrane,Mark Belgre and James Eggleston. We need to win next weekend to make sure we play finals this year.
