All game reports to go in the newsletter need to be sent each week to wrights@dragnet.com.au before 10pm on the Monday after the game so they can be collated. The newsletter is emailed out each week. The report does not have to be done by the manager or coach so you can share the responsibility between the parents and/or players. If you miss the deadline I’ll carry the article into the following week but please try to meet the deadline. You can see past reports on the Hotspurs website.
Finally the award for our best report using the word of the week “conflagration” judged by the newsletter editor (me) goes to Lewis Parrett of the U16s, pick up your drink prize from the canteen at the next home game. Nice try Kel for the U10s. The word for next report is “freeze”.

Under 10s
With spurs vs. spurs it was a hot hot clash, so hot is was a conflagration! Both teams played some excellent football and showed great drive and desire to get forward and attack. The under 9 kids who play up in this age are doing a tremendous job and are getting great support from the true under 10s. We could’ve used goal line technology more than FIFA did in the World Cup in this game with a number of disputes from the players about whether it had crossed the goal line or not.
Under 11s V Wodonga Heart Won 10 – 0
Another great team performance from the Under 11 boys. Unselfish play and great passing to put teammates into gaps was the order of the day. In the first half Will P and Harry continuously provided teammates with quality crosses in front of goal. Some quick 1-2 passing between Zac and Sami ensured the ball moved forward quickly. Nimod, Baily, Toby and Sanjay stood tall in defence once again and got to move up field later in the game which resulted in many shots on goal. A great game by the boys who keep getting stronger week to week. Goalscorers: Harry – 3, Will H – 2, Jack – 1, Zac – 1, Sanjay – 1, Sami – 1, Toby – 1

Under 14s Girls V Wodonga Diamonds White Won 1 – 0
Our girls faced Wodonga Diamonds White on the nicest day we have seen in some time, the sunshine and heat of the day would make you believe there was a conflagration of fire somewhere near as it certainly was a much warmer day than the previous few weekends.
In a game that came easy to our girls last time we played them, this game proved to be a different story, I think we all thought this was going to be one of those easy games and as it turned out it wasn’t. To be fair the girls dominated the game but were too crowded in the goal square and couldn’t bag that elusive goal, added to this was a stunning performance from the Diamonds White goalkeeper who must of saved a minimum of 15 shots on goal over the period of the match.
A late penalty to Anna sealed a very narrow victory for the girls, excellent games by Laura, Sam, Sarsha, Bella and Hannah. A big thanks to Isabella and Juju for sharing the goal keeping duties and not letting any through well done, we only had the bare 11 so a brave effort by all concerned.
This effort tells us we need to step it up fair bit against United this weekend, so lets see if we can all get to training on Thursday and hope the weather is kind to us this week
Under 16s V Wodonga Heart Won 9 – 0
No amount of cold frost and water tight Heart defence could keep out the conflagration of goals scored by the hot boots of the Hotspurs. For the lads first clean sheet of the season it was a good game. In the first half there was some extremely positive football from a lot of the team. Sean Mac was extremely solid in the centre of defence and Jorz was a devilish winger putting 3 in the back of the net in the first half. It was great to have our resident goal scoring machine Sam Thorman back in the team. It literally took him 12 seconds to link up with up with the familiar assist from Lewis’s boot and then there was another ball in the back of the net. Shorty scored 4 for the day bringing his tally to 30 goals in 16s this season. Matt Clarke also scored a well earned goal, and Mitch Seers, after a few goes, got the goal he wanted. Ray Kausch was outstanding in goals –thanks Ray. A good all round performance from everyone in the team and let’s hope the boys can continue with a tough games against Diamonds (Wednesday) and Albury United. S.Thorman-4, C.Jory-3, M.Clarke-1, M.Seers(SKEERS)-1

Thirds V Wodonga Heart Won 4 – 0
After a poor first half the team played much better in the second. Indra scored a hatrick and played very well. Sajit ,Bhupen and Jacob were other players who played good games on Sunday.
Over 35s V Wodonga Heart Won 5 – 1
Well we finally put the heat on to the field, what a conflagration. We passed to each other, ran to space and scrambled defence like Germany. Heart started the game on the back foot with the strength of our attack but they scored a goal from a dubious hand ball offence call which resulted in a free kick that rebounded of one of our players into the goal. This just fuelled our fire, we continued to pound their goal and got the equaliser about ten minutes later. Carl had a good shot stopped on the line so we ended the half even.
Second half was another matter, we continued to move the ball and switch which confused the opposition and this time the shots went in. John Irvine in a guest appearance saved our bacon a couple of times in goal and in the end it was a good win with goals to Kel (3), Jim B and Greg. Big game next week guys.
Reserve Women V Wodonga Heart Draw 2 – 2
A fair but disappointing result for the reserve ladies who dominated play in the second half but just could not get the ball in the back of the net. Jess finished both goals very nicely taking on players and the goal keeper to put them both away. Gios and KT both played well in the midfield and dominated the play creating many chances. Mollie played well and made a great run from half way and Lily was unlucky not to get on the scoreboard. Thanks to Nat P and Lily for sitting on the bench and providing support for the Reserve ladies with a few away. A big game next week against United, Let’s keep working together as a team girls and the results will happen. Good work girls!!
Reserves V Wodonga Heart Draw 2 – 2
A disappointing result against a team we should be able to defeat We missed a number of good chances and then gave away some silly goals. Mick Carroll, Irish, Zac Francis and Milky were our best players.
